Celebrating Bishop 19

Hello again! Almost ten years ago, I made this drawing of an elderly lady tied up, tape gagged and blindfolded. As she is trying to make sense of her situation, there are three teenagers in the back, busy minding their own business. Now, a year ago or so, I published it on Deviant Art, and a few days later I got a response from someone saying something along the lines of : "Oh my God: this is my favorite subject! A person tied up, helpless in bondage, being ignored!"
At first I thought, well, it only goes to show how nuanced our little niche is, how many flavors we love. But then it reminded me of something I had seen decades earlier, which had had the exact same effect on me, and that was this work by Bishop.

Indeed, it may not be his most sophisticated work ever. However, it was the subject that got me. Of course, the fact hat she has to be on her toes the whole time is great.And then there is this anxious look, and that beautiful crotch rope.
But the thing that really got to me was the fact that the man is, at least for the time being, completely ignoring her, reducing her to a totally insignificant presence. These two factors, the comment on Deviant Art and this Blast from the past revived my interest in the subject, and I have been using it again ever since!
