A small amount of world building

Hello everyone! A little word or two about the latest update in New. You see, the way I work, a drawing almost never goes from a pencilled concept to a completed work in a straight line. That's because I work in different phases, in different states of mind, so you will. For instance, when I feel 'inspired' and I have a good idea, I want to see that in front of me, and that's why I put it on paper as quick as I can. This doesn't mean that the proces is fast: there's always a lot of erasing involved, a lot of re-drawing and starting all over again, but it will come to life in its most satisfieing form as quick as possible, that's what I mean. But then, when the idea has actually taken shape, I seldom feel the urge to make it into a thight inkt line drawing straight away. Most likely, because of my inspired state, I will have two or three other ideas which I want to realize.

And so, first of all, a pile of pencilled out concepts will form on my table, before I will even be thinking of working them out any further. And they can stay there for quite a while. Untill eventually the well runs dry, and I will turn my mind to other things, listening to the radio, or to the net and start tracing one or two of them, which is really a rather mind numbing task. Thank God for the huge amount of interesting documentaries, interviews and concerts on the world wide web!
And then, a few days later, I will ramp up my concentration again as I get into the rendering of one of them, which requires the most time in the whole process. It also asks for a different state of mind, too. You could say that where as the first phase, the pencilling basically finds place in a rather raw form of eroticism, and the second one, the lining, in a rather clinical, precise type of manner, this last phase asks for a combination of both, with the erotics turned down a little, as well as the clinical: you need to be prepared to take a little more of a risk here.

Now with this latest update, I have been taking it to the extreme a bit: I think that that sketch has been on my desk for at least five years until I decided to finally finish it. If you are familiar with my current work, you may even notice a few stylistic differences. And you may also notice something else. In my work, I like to revisit some persons I have used before.

Same thing with bondage devices, and situations. It is a very, very modest form of world building, I guess. I hope these linked drawings will amp up each others effectiveness as one watches them, giving them more of a feeling like this is really taking place in an actual world. It is the same effect I'm hoping to achieve with the fake book and magazine covers.

With regards to the bondage furniture re-visiting however, there is one more aspect to it. What I like extra about that is the way in which the equalizing aspect of those contraptions is made clear. It doesn't matter who you put in there, they all end up in the same position. No matter if they're young or old, black or white, strong or weak. Regardless of social status, wealth or intellect.

Now I have already demonstrated that with various pictures of the Frog bench; here I wanted to offer a few other examples. Hope you will enjoy them!
