Celebrating Bishop 24
06-10-2018
The reason I included this relatively simple line drawing in the Celebrating Bishop series is the subject of the piece. It is a subject that fascinates me, and one that I have used more than once in several narratives myself. I have gone through all of Bishop's stand-alone drawings and this is the only one considering this theme as far as I can see. So, what is this theme?
In my mind, this drawing depicts a point in time that appears in every consenting bondage scene. It is the transition from willing coöperation to total helplessness.
In the situation before this scene, the woman could decide to call the whole thing off and walk away, or she could make certain demands about the way she wanted things to proceed. But in the situation right after, her opinion and wishes have become de facto insignificant. From there on, it is irrelevant whether or not she wants to coöperate: she has crossed the Rubicon.

For me, this drawing depicts that exact point. It is in the relaxed way the woman is looking over her shoulder, checking out if everything is going alright, even trying to help as best as she can maybe. Also, the fact that the blindfold isn't in place yet makes this a scene of consent, to my mind. Fascinating.

Welcome back! Updates in New, and in the Butterfly page, also under New. There to be found also: a rare case of lost and found: a black and white tickle page from twenty-two years ago, up until now not published here.
Furthermore there is a new combination in the Combipage, and last but not least a new short story, again under New.
See you next time,
